Abstract:
According to the European photovoltaic industry association (EPIA), solar pv capacity will reach 130 to 200GW by 2015.
According to the latest EPIA's global market outlook, the cumulative global solar market will reach 40GW by the end of 2010, up 16.6GW in 2010 alone.
As a result, potential solar capacity is now at about 5 billion kilowatt-hours per year.
"These data reveal the outstanding potential of pv and the tremendous contribution to future energy fields.
The current capacity of solar power in the world produces the equivalent of all of the country's electricity consumption, such as Greece, Romania and Switzerland.
EPIA chairman Ingmar Wilhelm said.
Germany maintained the world's no. 1 in 2010 with 7.4 GW.
Italy was second with 2.3 GW.
The Czech republic reached 1.5gw of installed capacity in 2010, but EPIA says it will be hard to sustain in 2011.
Other leading pv countries include Japan (990MW), us (900ZMW), France (700MW), Belgium (420MW) and Spain (370MW).
In all, the eu has added more than 13GW of new photovoltaic installations.
EPIA predicts that the affordable Internet policy will be implemented in small residential and commercial systems in some countries in the coming year.
Solar pv is expected to be competitive in Europe by 2020.
"The changes in the photovoltaic market in recent years have been inseparable from the confidence and vision of wise policymakers and support for technological progress," Wilhelm said.
"Adequate support policies, such as the price of the Internet, have been driving the development of the market and must continue to be better coordinated with the decline in the cost of photovoltaic power generation.
The photovoltaic industry also supports well-designed support policies that, while ensuring market and industry development, simplify the licensing process and limit consumer spending.
